Reaching the summit is only half the journey to victory.
The crunch of crampons biting into the ice. A fatigued hand driving an ice axe into the snow wall. Heavy breathing as you struggle to lift your body to move up half a meter again. Only 100... 50 meters separate you from the summit of K2, one of the most challenging eight-thousanders. Standing in the blinding sunlight, you look down, where your tent awaits you. But to reach it, you must pass through a raging blizzard on the most difficult stretch. Will you manage it?
In the game K2, each player directs a team of 2 climbers, who, competing against other teams, try to reach the summit and survive until the end of the 18-day expedition.
How does it work?
Players move their climbers across the board using cards that they play each round. The higher a climber ascends, the more victory points they will earn at the end of the game. However, in the higher parts of the mountains, one must be cautious of the acclimatization level. If it drops below 1, the exhausted climber will die, and the player will not receive the victory points they have earned. Therefore, choosing the right path to the summit, optimally placing tents, and paying attention to the weather, which significantly affects the difficulty of the ascent, are crucial elements of the game.
