In 1977, miners working in a gold mine in Siberia discovered a frozen young woolly mammoth. The animal was only six months old when it died 40,000 years ago.A whole frozen mammoth was also found in Siberia in 1900. The creature still had 14 kilograms of undigested food in its stomach, including moss, grass, and pine needles. Mammoths had very strong, flat-edged teeth that were resistant to breaking and wear.
