Disposal and return possibility of old electrical appliances
The proper disposal of old electrical and electronic devices ("old devices"), batteries and lamps is important to us. The following rules must be observed when disposing of them:
Information:
The following information is intended for private households that use electrical and/or electronic equipment. Please observe these important instructions in the interest of environmentally friendly disposal of old appliances and your own safety.
1. notes on the disposal of electrical and electronic equipment
Owners of old appliances are required to collect them separately from unsorted municipal waste. Waste electrical and electronic equipment must therefore not be disposed of as unsorted municipal waste and, in particular, should not be disposed of with household waste. Rather, these old appliances must be collected separately and disposed of via the local collection and return systems, for example.
In addition, owners of waste equipment must separate waste batteries and accumulators that are not enclosed by the waste equipment from it before they are handed in at a collection point. The latter does not apply if the waste equipment is separated from other waste equipment for the purpose of preparing it for reuse in order to prepare it for reuse by the public waste management authorities within the framework of opting for reuse in accordance with § 14 (5) sentences 2 and 3 ElektroG.
The symbol in Annex 3 to the Electrical and Electronic Equipment Act (ElektroG) enables owners to identify waste equipment that must be collected separately from unsorted municipal waste at the end of its service life. The symbol for the separate collection of electrical and electronic equipment represents a crossed-out wheeled bin and is designed as follows:
2. information on the possibility of returning waste equipment:
The old equipment may be returned free of charge to the local recycling centre or to the following collection points in your vicinity: Take-back system for used electrical appliances Deutsche Post DHL (HTTPS://localities.deutschepost.de/local search) This ensures that the old appliances are recycled properly and negative effects on the environment are avoided.
Please note:
Used batteries and accumulators which are not enclosed by the old appliance must be separated from it before they are handed over.
Each consumer is responsible for the deletion of personal data on the electrical or electronic equipment.
Owners of waste electrical and electronic equipment from private households can also return the waste electrical and electronic equipment to the collection points of the public waste disposal authorities or to the collection points set up by manufacturers or distributors within the meaning of the Electrical and Electronic Equipment Act. An online directory of collection and return points can be found here: https://www.ear-system.de/ear-verzeichnis/sammel-und-ruecknahmestellen.jsf
3. note on data protection
Some of the waste equipment to be disposed of contains sensitive personal data (e.g. on a PC or smartphone) that must not fall into the hands of third parties.
We expressly point out that end users of old devices must take responsibility for the deletion of personal data on the old devices to be disposed of.
Batteries must not be disposed of with household waste.
Batteries and rechargeable batteries that contain harmful substances must not be disposed of as household waste. They are marked with the symbol of a crossed-out dustbin:
Next to the garbage can symbol are the chemical names of the respective pollutant ("Cd" stands for cadmium, "Pb" for lead and "Hg" for mercury).
As an end user, you are legally obliged to return used batteries properly. You can return batteries free of charge after use at the point of sale or in its immediate vicinity (e.g. at municipal collection points or in the trade). You can also send batteries back to us by post.
Disposal of lamps and illuminants
Certain lamps and light sources are also subject to the Electrical and Electronic Equipment Act and must therefore be treated in the same way as old appliances.
Compact fluorescent lamps, metal halide lamps, fluorescent tubes and neon lamps may contain small amounts of mercury and must therefore not be disposed of with household waste. LEDs do not contain any harmful substances, but should not be disposed of with household waste.
