Witcher: Old World is an adventure board game that takes players on a journey through a fantastic world full of dangers, mysterious magic, dark secrets, and extraordinary places just waiting to be discovered. The action of the game takes place in the beloved universe of The Witcher, many years before the events of the saga about Geralt of Rivia, in times when the plague of monsters ravaged the Continent. Only Witchers, professional monster hunters trained to fight hostile entities, were able to counter it.
What is it about?
In the game Witcher: Old World, each player chooses one of the five Witcher schools and takes on the role of a professional monster hunter. During the journey through the vast lands of the Continent, they will discover its secrets, train in combat, and gain experience. Depending on the game's length, determined at the beginning, players compete to collect from 4 to 6 trophies. The first person to collect the required amount wins, bringing the highest honor and fame to their school.
Trophies can be earned in various ways. The basic method is, as it befits witchers, killing monsters. Players can also acquire them by fighting for the honor of their school against other witchers in taverns, maximizing their Attributes, as well as completing specific Tasks during their journey across the Continent.
During gameplay, players create a unique deck of cards by selecting from a pool of available abilities: attacks, dodges, and Witcher signs. Players use the deck in combat, where they combine cards into powerful combinations of attacks and use special abilities of the witcher school they belong to. Quests, skirmishes, and even dice poker will allow them to obtain new items and money, as well as develop their skills.
