Tokyo Monsters Cthulhu Game Expansion
Cthulhu is the first mini-expansion for Tokyo Monsters, as well as New York Monsters, iconic board games by Richard Garfield, author of such collectible titles as Android: Netrunner and Magic: The Gathering. The expansion introduces a new monster to the game, the terrifying Cthulhu from the mythology of H. P. Lovecraft. The terrible beast, thanks to its Evolutions, will impose madness tokens on other players, which will make it harder for them to make rolls. The expansion is fully compatible with both Tokyo Monsters and New York Monsters. To use it, you must have the Power Up! Boost expansion for one of these games. In Tokyo Monsters, Cthulhu will use his faithful followers to help him, while in New York he will spread a network of his temples throughout the city.
   
He's back!
So it happened! Ladies and gentlemen, Lovecraft was right! The giant octopus with a hundred tentacles, known as Cthulhu, has just devoured the Statue of Liberty! Oddly enough, it was seen in Tokyo at the same time. I have a feeling this might be our last show. If you haven't fallen into madness yet, run away as fast as you can!

   
In Tokyo
In both Tokyo and New York, Cthulhu will use his madness tokens. Some Evolutions, such as Tentacles of Terror, allow you to play them on other players. The victim cannot re-roll as many dice as they have received madness tokens. However, they can discard them by sacrificing Heart symbols. In Tokyo, Cthulhu will use his followers. If he rolls four of the same symbol on his dice during his turn, he gains 1 follower token, which he can then exchange for life points, energy, or an additional re-roll.
In New York
In New York, Cthulhu will use both sides of his tokens. One of them contains the followers, and the other contains the temples. At the beginning of the game, we turn the tokens temple side up and shuffle them with the other buildings, forming stacks on the board. Temples can be destroyed, gaining rewards for them, and after their destruction, we turn the token to the side with the follower. The followers attack like regular US units, and after defeating them, we place their tokens in front of us, being able to exchange them later on similar principles as in Tokyo.
